Privacy Policy

Last updated: 22 Oct 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information CPSTester.io ("we", "us", "our") collects when you visit our website, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have.

You can use every tool on CPSTester.io without an account, and we never ask for your name or email to run a test. Like most free websites, though, we use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used and Google AdSense to show ads that keep the tools free. Those services collect some information automatically, and this policy explains exactly how.

Who is responsible for your data: CPSTester.io is operated by CPSTester.io. For any privacy question or request, contact us at [email protected].

By using CPSTester.io, you acknowledge the practices described in this policy.

Information We Collect

Information collected automatically. When you visit CPSTester.io, our hosting provider, Google Analytics and Google AdSense automatically collect some technical information:

  • Device and browser details: browser type and version, operating system, device type, screen size and language setting.
  • Usage information: the pages you visit, how long you stay, the links you click, the page that referred you, and the date and time of your visit.
  • Approximate location: your country and region, worked out from your IP address. We don't collect your precise location.
  • Online identifiers: your IP address, plus cookie IDs and similar identifiers used for analytics and advertising (see "Cookies and Similar Technologies").

Information stored only on your device. Your test results are calculated in your browser. Your personal bests, chosen timer, theme (light or dark) and language are saved in your browser's local storage. This data is not sent to us, and you can delete it at any time by clearing your browser data.

Information you give us. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message.

What we don't collect. We don't require accounts, and we don't knowingly collect sensitive information, payment details or precise location data.

How We Use Information and Our Legal Bases

We use the information described above to:

  • Run and secure the website: deliver pages, keep the tools working, and detect and prevent spam, fraud and abuse.
  • Understand and improve our tools: see which tests are used most, find errors, and make the site faster and easier to use.
  • Show advertising: display the ads that keep CPSTester.io free, and measure how those ads perform.
  • Respond to you: answer your questions, bug reports and privacy requests.
  • Meet legal obligations: comply with applicable laws and respond to lawful requests from authorities.

Legal bases (EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland). Under the GDPR and UK GDPR, we rely on:

  • Consent (Article 6(1)(a)) for analytics cookies and advertising cookies. We only set these after you agree through our cookie banner, and you can withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)) for running, securing and maintaining the website, and for replying to messages you send us.
  • Legal obligation (Article 6(1)(c)) where the law requires us to process or keep information.

We do not sell your personal information for money.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

Cookies are small text files that a website saves in your browser. We also use local storage, which works in a similar way. We use them in three groups:

TypePurposeExamplesNeed your consent?
Strictly necessaryRemember your cookie choices and keep the site working.Consent preference cookie; local storage for your scores, timer, theme and languageNo
AnalyticsHelp us understand how visitors use the site (Google Analytics)._ga, _ga_<ID>Yes, in the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland
AdvertisingShow ads, limit how often you see the same ad, and measure ad performance (Google AdSense).__gads, __gpi, IDEYes, in the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland

Your choices. When you first visit from the EU, EEA, UK or Switzerland, a cookie banner asks for your consent before any analytics or advertising cookies are set. You can change your choice at any time with the Cookie settings link in our footer.

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block all cookies, the tools will still work, but your saved preferences may be lost.

Google AdSense and Advertising

CPSTester.io is free because we show ads served by Google AdSense. Here is how advertising on our site works:

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this website and other websites.
  • Google's advertising cookies let Google and its partners show you ads based on your visits to CPSTester.io and other sites on the internet.
  • Other ad partners may also serve ads here. Google allows certified third-party ad networks to show ads through AdSense, and these partners may also use cookies. In the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland, our cookie banner lists every vendor and lets you accept or refuse each one.
  • Personalised vs non-personalised ads. If you don't consent to advertising cookies, you may still see ads. They will be non-personalised, based on the page you're viewing and your general location rather than your browsing history.

How to opt out of personalised advertising:

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4, a web analytics service from Google, to understand how visitors find and use CPSTester.io. It tells us things like which tests are most popular, which pages load slowly, and roughly where our visitors come from. This helps us improve the site.

  • What it collects: pages visited, time on site, clicks, device and browser type, and approximate location (city, region and country).
  • IP addresses: Google Analytics 4 uses your IP address only to estimate your general location, and does not log or store it.
  • Retention: user-level analytics data is automatically deleted after 2 months.
  • Consent: in the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland, Google Analytics loads only after you accept analytics cookies.
  • Opt out: you can stop Google Analytics on every website by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

To learn more, see how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Your Rights in the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland

If you live in the European Union, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, data protection law (the GDPR, the UK GDPR and the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection) gives you the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you and get a copy of it.
  • Correct data that is wrong or incomplete.
  • Delete your data ("the right to be forgotten").
  • Restrict or object to how we use your data, including processing based on our legitimate interests.
  • Port your data, meaning receive it in a common format or have it sent to another provider.
  • Withdraw consent at any time through Cookie settings. This doesn't affect anything done before you withdrew.

To use any of these rights, email [email protected]. We will reply within one month. This can be extended by two more months for complex requests, and if so we'll tell you why.

Because we don't run accounts, the only data linked to you is usually held as cookie IDs by Google. Including the relevant identifier in your request helps us find it.

You can also complain to your local data protection authority. In the EU or EEA, that's the authority listed by the European Data Protection Board. In the UK it's the ICO, and in Switzerland the FDPIC.

Your Rights in the United States

Residents of California and several other US states, including Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas and Oregon, have privacy rights under their state's laws. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we collect and how we use and share it.
  • Delete personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Opt out of "selling" or "sharing" personal information, and of targeted advertising.
  • Not be treated differently for using any of these rights.

Selling and sharing. We don't sell personal information for money. Under California law, however, letting ad partners use cookies for personalised ads may count as "selling" or "sharing". The information involved is online identifiers, browsing activity on our site and approximate location. To opt out, use the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link in our footer. We also honour the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal from your browser as a valid opt-out.

Making a request. Email [email protected]. You can also have an authorised agent act for you. We'll respond within 45 days. If we deny your request, you can appeal by replying to our decision, where your state's law allows it.

Children's Privacy

CPSTester.io is a general-audience website. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 in the United States, or under the age of digital consent where they live: between 13 and 16 in the EU, depending on the country, and 13 in the UK.

Because many young gamers enjoy our tools, we've designed the site so you never need to give us any personal information to use it.

If you're a parent or guardian and believe your child has sent us personal information, for example by email, contact us at [email protected] and we will delete it promptly.

Data Retention, Security and International Transfers

How long we keep data. We keep personal information only as long as we need it:

  • Emails you send us: up to 24 months after we've resolved your message, then deleted.
  • Google Analytics data: deleted automatically after 2 months.
  • Server logs: kept for up to 30 days for security, then deleted.
  • Cookies: each cookie expires on its own schedule, which our cookie banner lists in full.
  • Local storage: stays on your device until you clear it.

Security. The whole site is served over encrypted HTTPS, and access to our analytics and email accounts is limited to the team members who need it. No website can be 100% secure, but we work to protect the information we handle.

International transfers. Google and our other service providers may process data in the United States and other countries. When personal data from the EU, EEA, UK or Switzerland is transferred abroad, it is protected by recognised safeguards, such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

Changes to This Policy and How to Contact Us

We may update this Privacy Policy when our tools, services or the law change. The "Last updated" date at the top always shows the latest version. If we make significant changes, we'll show a notice on the site before they take effect.

If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your data, email us at [email protected]. We read every message and reply as quickly as we can, and always within the time limits the law sets.
