QUICK ANSWER

The Jitter Click Test measures how fast you can jitter click, and how consistent your clicks are. Pick a mode from 5 to 30 seconds (10 seconds is the default) and click as fast as you can. You’ll get your CPS, your average gap between clicks, a consistency score and a second-by-second chart.

What Is Jitter Clicking?

Jitter clicking is a fast-clicking technique where you tense the muscles in your forearm and wrist until your hand starts to shake slightly. That controlled tremor travels down to your finger and presses the mouse button for you, many times per second.

It’s faster than regular clicking because your finger doesn’t have to lift and press on its own. The shaking does the work, so most players reach 9–14 CPS with jitter clicking, compared with 5–8 CPS from regular clicking.

Jitter clicking became popular with Minecraft PvP players, where more clicks mean more hits. It takes practice to control, though. The shaking can pull your aim off target, and holding the tension tires your arm quickly.

How to Jitter Click: Step by Step

  1. Step 1: Use a claw or fingertip grip. Arch your hand so only your fingertips and the base of your palm touch the mouse. This gives your hand room to shake.
  2. Step 2: Rest your finger on the button. Keep your index finger lightly on the left button, near its front edge. Don’t lift it between clicks.
  3. Step 3: Tense your forearm. Tighten the muscles in your forearm and wrist until your hand starts to vibrate slightly.
  4. Step 4: Let the vibration click for you. Press down gently and let the shaking do the clicking. Forcing your finger to move slows you down.
  5. Step 5: Start with short bursts. Use the 5-second mode until your rhythm feels steady.
  6. Step 6: Build up gradually. Move to the 10- and 15-second modes as your control improves, resting between rounds.
  7. Step 7: Watch your consistency score. Speed comes first, but a steady score means your jitter is under control.

Reading Your Results: Interval and Consistency

When your test ends, you’ll see more than just your CPS. Here’s what each result tells you:

ResultWhat it tells you
CPSYour average clicks per second across the whole test.
Average intervalThe average gap between two clicks, in milliseconds. At 10 CPS, it’s about 100 ms.
ConsistencyHow even those gaps are, from 0 to 100%. A higher score means a steadier rhythm.
Per-second chartHow many clicks you made in each second. Bars that drop toward the end show your arm tiring.
PeakYour best single second.

How to use them: if your CPS is high but your consistency is low, your jitter is fast but uneven. That’s usually a sign of too much tension. Relax your grip slightly and retest.

Jitter vs Butterfly Clicking

Both techniques can push you past regular clicking speed, but they work in very different ways:

ItemJitter clickingButterfly clicking
How it worksA tensed forearm shakes one finger on the button. Two fingers take turns pressing the same button.
Typical CPS9–1415–25
Aim controlHarder, because your hand shakes.Easier, because your hand stays steadier.
StrainMostly on your forearm.Mostly on your fingers.
Server rulesUsually allowed.Sometimes restricted, because it can trigger double-click detection.

Which should you choose? Start with jitter clicking if you play on servers with strict click rules. Try butterfly clicking if you want the highest CPS and your server allows it.

Protect Your Arm

Jitter clicking keeps your forearm muscles tense, and practising too much can lead to soreness or repetitive strain. Train smart:

  • Warm up first. Gently stretch your wrists and fingers before you start.
  • Keep sessions short. A few test rounds at a time are enough. Long, non-stop practice does more harm than good.
  • Take rest days. Your muscles improve while they recover, not while they’re tired.
  • Don’t jitter all game long. Save it for fights instead of every click.
  • Stop if it hurts. Pain, tingling or numbness in your hand or wrist means it’s time to stop. If it doesn’t go away, see a doctor.

Jitter Click Test FAQ

What is a good jitter clicking CPS?

Most players reach 9–14 CPS with jitter clicking. Around 10 CPS is a solid start, and anything above 12 CPS in the 10-second mode means your technique is well practised.

Is jitter clicking bad for you?

Jitter clicking strains your forearm, so overdoing it can cause soreness. Keep sessions short, rest often and stop if you feel pain. If the pain lasts, see a doctor.

Is jitter clicking allowed on Minecraft servers?

On most servers, yes, because it’s a manual technique and not a cheat. Some servers set CPS limits, though, so check each server’s rules before using very high speeds.

Why is my jitter clicking inconsistent?

Usually it’s too much tension, a tiring arm or a changing grip. Relax your grip slightly, keep your finger on the button and practise in short 5-second rounds.
